The safety of our members is a top priority. This policy explains how we manage health and safety across our classes, our equipment and our venue so that everyone can train with confidence.
Our commitment
We are committed to providing a safe training environment and to meeting our duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. We are fully insured and our coaches are trained to manage the risks of contact sport.
A safe training environment
- Mats and equipment are checked regularly and kept clean.
- Classes are supervised by qualified coaches at all times.
- We control class sizes so coaching and sparring stay safe.
- Clear walkways and exits are kept free of obstruction.
Injury and first aid
- A first-aid kit is available on site at every session.
- Coaches stop training immediately to deal with any injury.
- Members must report all injuries to a coach, however minor.
- We keep a record of incidents and review them to prevent repeats.
Hygiene
Good hygiene protects everyone in a contact sport. We ask all members to support this.
- Train in clean kit and keep finger and toe nails trimmed.
- Cover any cuts or grazes before training.
- Do not train with a contagious skin condition or infection.
- Wear footwear off the mats and never on them.
Emergencies
- 1In a serious emergency, a coach will call 999 immediately.
- 2The coach will manage the situation and clear the area if needed.
- 3We follow the venue's fire and evacuation procedures.
- 4Parents or emergency contacts are informed as soon as possible.
Your part
Members help keep everyone safe by following coaching instructions, training with control and disclosing any health condition or injury that may affect their training.
Review and contact
